Welcome to the Buttonz Website.
You will find each piece of our wearable art is unique, as many of the buttons we use are one-of-a-kind. We use only vintage buttons in pristine condition, most from the 1930s and 1940s, but some from earlier decades as well.
Most of our buttons come from a New York button factory that closed its doors in the 1940s. The buttons sat in crates for over 60 years until they found their way to Santa Cruz, California. Here, we finally give them the due they deserve by showcasing their beautiful textures, colors and shapes in each special piece we create.
The buttons we use in our jewelry are made from casein, lucite, celluloid, plastic, glass, mother-of-pearl and bakelite.
To preserve the integrity of each button we hand-sew them onto high quality grosgrain elastic. The buttons range from shiny to matte, small to large, smooth to richly textured, and the elastic colors used include black, chocolate brown, deep cherry red and light green
Please store or display your Buttonz bracelet away from prolonged sunlight and in a container that breathes. Avoid a closed plastic case. The buttons in your bracelet may be wiped with a damp cloth and dried carefully. As with all things vintage, handle with respect and care.
